Configuring Google Analytics (GA4) tracking

Google Analytics (GA4) lets you track job ad traffic and applicant behavior. Admins can enable it in Custom scripts under Company settings.

Written by Venla Vainio

This guide explains how to configure Google Analytics (GA4) tracking for your job advertisements and applicant behavior within the TalentAdore platform. By enabling this feature, you can gain valuable insights into website traffic, conversion rates, and the applicant journey on your job postings.

GA4 tracking code can be added to the "HTML code for trackers" section in Custom scripts within your Company settings. If this section is blocked for security reasons, please contact our support team for assistance, or we can help disable the section for you to manually add trackers or add in on your behalf.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to Company Settings

  2. Go to Custom Scripts

    • Within the Company settings, find and click on "Custom scripts".

  3. Add GA4 Tracking Code:

    • Scroll down to the "HTML code for trackers" section.

    • Paste your GA4 tracking code into the provided text area. This code typically looks like <script> ... </script>.

  4. Save Changes

πŸ’‘ Tip: Ensure you are using the correct GA4 Measurement ID (starting with 'G-') and that the script is properly formatted. You can also ask our support to add this for you.

Common Issues and Solutions

Issue

Solution

Tracking code not accepted / Section is blocked

For security reasons, the "HTML code for trackers" section may be blocked. If you cannot add your code, please contact TalentAdore Support for assistance. We can help add the code for you, or discuss options for enabling the section if necessary.

No data appearing in Google Analytics

After adding the code, it may take some time for Google Analytics to start collecting data.
Verify the tracking code is correctly entered in the "HTML code for trackers" section. Ensure the GA4 Measurement ID is accurate. Check Google Analytics' real-time reports to see if data is being received. Clear your browser cache and visit a job ad to test.

Incorrect or incomplete data in Google Analytics

Double-check that the tracking code implemented correctly captures all desired events and page views. Ensure it's the GA4 version of the tracking code. If you're unsure, consult with your analytics administrator or contact TalentAdore Support.

Applicant data tracking is not working as expected

The effectiveness of tracking applicant behavior depends on how the GA4 code is configured to track events and page views within the application process. Review your GA4 setup to ensure it's designed to capture relevant applicant interactions.

Changes are not taking effect after saving

Changes made in "Custom scripts" typically take effect immediately. However, browser caching can sometimes cause delays. Clear your browser cache and cookies. Try accessing a job advertisement in an incognito/private browsing window.

Additional Tips

  • Cross-Domain Tracking: If you are tracking traffic across multiple domains (e.g., your company website and the careers page hosted on TalentAdore), ensure your cross-domain tracking is configured correctly in Google Analytics.

  • Testing: After implementing the tracking code, thoroughly test your job postings to ensure that traffic and applicant behavior are being tracked accurately. Use Google Analytics' real-time reporting feature for immediate verification.

  • User Roles: Only Admin users typically have access to modify "Company settings" and add custom scripts. Ensure you have the appropriate user role to make these changes.

  • Security: Be mindful of the scripts you add to your "HTML code for trackers" section. Only add code from trusted sources to maintain the security and integrity of your website.
