Note that there are three types of Searches available in TalentAdore: “Search” includes both full-text search and so-called Boolean logic, which allows you to create specific search terms. “Advanced search” can narrow down your basic search even further. "Quick Search" is a fast, but more limited tool.
Quick Search
At the top right of the TalentAdore interface is a magnifying glass symbol that opens the quick search bar.
The quick search bar can be used to search for applications or talents. This field can be used to search based on name, email or phone number, and it returns the ten most relevant results. Boolean operators AND and OR also work in quick search.
Search
The text search field, combined with "Included in search" right after it, allows you to do a full-text search in the applications database.
Usually, it is enough to put the search word into the field and results will appear in the table within a second or two. However, full-text search can be used also for so-called boolean search. Special characters - + (plus), - (minus), * (star), @ (at), (, ), " (quote) and some others - can be used to create search terms.
Example boolean searches:
marketing economics - finds all applications that contain words marketing or economics or both
+marketing +economics - both marketing and economics
+marketing -economics - applications that contain marketing, but not economics
"software design" - contains "software design" as a phrase
eco* - contains words which start with "eco" for example, economy, ecology
john -doe - contains "john" but not "doe"
design -("team player") - contains design, but does not contain the "team player" phrase
Note 1. Tags are an exception and can be searched only as whole words. For example, if you have used the tag ‘Chinese skills’, search for Chinese skills and not only Chinese.
Note 2. Do not use @ in searches without quotes around it, for instance, "[email protected]".
In short, a full-text search can handle simple search queries as well as complex ones. Of all the special characters, a star at the end of the word can be the most useful one.
Narrow down your Search:
In the Search widget, you can narrow down the full-text search to specific kinds of data, such as: attached documents, internal or external notes, messages, and other application data.
Other Search widgets can help to narrow the search down to specific positions, applicant statuses, and whether the applicant has joined Talent Community.
The checked items are combined together with “OR”, but selections of different widgets are combined together with “AND”.
For example, if you type "John" into the search bar, and checked "Names" to be included in search, and you would check "Photographer" and "Photojournalist" under “Position”, search results will contain applications of John (as whole words of name or surname) in Photographer or Photojournalist positions.
Advanced search
Advanced search can narrow down your basic searches even further. The results of the basic Search can be combined with the results of the Advanced search. In an advanced search, one can define different groups and fields of criteria. You can add “AND” and “OR” between different groups and either “AND” or “OR” between different fields. Fields can also be negated using “NOT”.
For example, if you want to find all applicants that were evaluated to be motivated and to have a relevant education in a Photographer position, follow these steps:
First, click “clear all” to clear all previous filters from the Search
Choose the Photographer position under “Position”
Switch to the “Advanced search” tab
Click “Add group” and then select “Evaluation - positive” from the dropdown. Then select Motivation.
Click “Add field”
Select “Evaluation - positive” again and this time check “Relevance of education”.
Now, only applicants which were positively evaluated in both Motivation and Relevance of education will appear in the table.
Frequently asked questions
The selections in my advanced search shows incorrect answers or answers that do not correspond with the questions in the form.
Empty all filters and add them again to make sure no other condition is influencing the selection.
If you still get an incorrect selection, it is likely that you have built a form on top of another form, and the values have gotten mixed up between the old and the new form. In this case contact Support.
The form questions look weird or distorted in advanced search or automation view. Why is this?
This is usually because some user has created a form using custom form editor but has not input translations in the questions. Even if you have only one language in a form, you still need to put the translation in because the title field will create the database value to the question that will show many extra characters, whereas the translation, if included, will showcase the question as you wish for it to be displayed.
Fix this problem by:
navigating to custom form editor
Click edit on the form that is showing incorrect options.
Navigate to the top right corner and select 'translations' and input translations in all the languages with which you use the form.
